What's with all the time discrepancies in the flick? Ex: Randal sells the cigarettes before they play hockey at 2:00, but the guy who cites Dante says they were sold at 4:00!
Kevin says: "What happened is that we didn't have a continuity person on the flick (their job - among other things - is to catch stuff like that).
In other words - it's a mistake."
What's does the "RST" of RST Video stand for?
Vincent Periera : "Rajiv, Sarla, Tarlochen. Those are the first names of the son, mother, and father team respectively who own the video store and the Quick Stop."
What's on silent bob's hat?
That's Felix the Cat.
Why did Randal have to get the key to the video store from Dante?
Since the stores are both owned by the same people, Dante had the key in Quick Stop.
What does David Klein say after "do you have hubcaps for a '72 pinto hatch-back?"
"Ooh! Mini Truckin' Magazine!"
How did Kevin come up with "berserker"?
" 'Berserker' represents all that is metal (or at least was metal). It's a song I wrote when my friend Walter was wearing this bad wig stolen off a mannequin at J.C. Penny's. He wore it through the mall and we'd (me, Ed, and Bryan) introduced him around as 'Olaf', our friend from Russia, who wanted to be a metal singer."
Is Olaf coming back?
Hopefully. Kevin's working on it.
Will we ever see "chess team" Allan Harris or Brad Michaelson?
It's under consideration.
Will there be more adventures of Dante and Randal?
Besides the movie, there have been several comic books and the Clerks cartoon. Kevin has also stated that Dante and Randal will return in the next (and final) Askewniverse flick.
Is the offended customer during the "jizz-mopper" conversation buying what I think he is?
Yup. That's paper towels and window cleaner.
Isn't Randal being hypocritical for bashing customers for renting stupid films then going to rent porn for himself?
Yeah, well, movies and porn are two different things and should be judged as such.
What does Dante make before work?
Chocolate milk.
Is Dante wearing a house of pain shirt?
Yes. Brian O'Halloran was a fan.
Why doesn't the boss call another electrician to fix the lights in the bathroom?
Leonardo is so small that he's the only guy to do it.
What is Dante doing with those dollar bills when Jay walks in?
He's just taping the ripped bills up.
At what time in the film does randal say the cat's name is lenin's tomb?
Right before Dante was on the phone (about the boss' Vermont trip).
Whose cat is Lenin's Tomb?
It hung around Quick Stop, then Vince took it home. (Kevin named it though). He has since run away and is sorely missed.
How did they get the cat to poo on cue?
They made it hold it in all day, and then they released it.
Were the steel shutters closed for the duration of the film so that they could film at night and still make it appear to be day?
Yes.
Didn’t the real-life boss, Mr. Thapar, get upset at the bad mouthing of the store?
"Nope. He didn't read the script, but he and his wife were just cool"
Are the real convenience store and video store owned by the same person?
Yes.
Is there a real big choice video?
Not anymore. It was called "Choice Video", but it closed.
What’s Randal's last name?
Graves. Caitlin says it, but it is hard to understand. [note: "Randal", not "Randall", or "Randell", or whatever.]
Who is Caitlin named after?
A character from Degrassi Junior High.
Is Dante’s name taken from Dante’s inferno?
Sure.
Was Randal's ride home Veronica?
No it wasn't. [He asked for a ride home, but it was cut.]
Was Walt Flanagan the other "ohh, navy seals" guy in that cut scene?
Yes.
If Dante and Gil, from Mallrats, have the same last name and look the same, are they twin brothers? What about Grant Hicks from Dogma?
Nope. Dante and Gil are just identical cousins. It has yet to be established what exact relationship Grant is to the other two.
Is Willam from Clerks and Willam from Mallrats the same person?
Physically, no. Character-wise, yeah... There is a theory, which is kinda lame, but basically, it states that Clerks and Mallrats take place on different planes of reality. The truth of the matter is, Scott was going to play Willam again in 'Rats, but gave it to Ethan.
Was Rick Derris or Heather Jones at Julie’s wake?
No, Rick's older and Heather's younger. Now, Heather's sister Alyssa was. You can read all about it in the Oni Press comic Clerks: The Lost Scene, available at the Stash.
What does Silent Bob buy when Caitlin first shows up?
It's a box of sugar, and a Plucky Duck candy dispenser (not a Pez though).
Did the video for "Can’t Even Tell" get any airtime?
MTV showed it occasionally. You can download it right HERE.
The girl tying Dave Pirner's skate kinda looks familiar, who is she?
She's Guin Turner, star and co-writer of "Go Fish" and the 'singer' from 'Amy.
Why was Clerks filmed in black and white?
It was a budget thing, plain and simple. Not only is black and white film stock cheaper, but you cannot use the regular lights that were in the Quick Stop with color film because it gives everything a greenish tint.
How did Kevin fund Clerks?
First, Scott's parents gave in $5000. Then, Kevin sold his comics to the guys at Comicology for store credit. He then sold the store credit at a discount to his friends. Kevin also got some money from insurance he had on a car that got "washed away" in a storm. He then borrowed money from everybody he knew, and maxed out his credit cards. After production, Kevin's parents chipped in $5000 more, and the grand total was a smidgen over $27K.
[The parents may be reversed, though.]
Will there ever be vhs copies of Clerks and Mallrats with all the lost footage?
It looks doubtful.
Was Clerks ever done as a sit-com?
Yes, but not by View Askew. It was done for prime time (no curses). It lacked Jay and Silent Bob. It lacked Brian and Jeff. In fact, Jim Breuer (of goat boy fame) actually played Randal. Rumor is it sucked.
What about an animated series?
Where the hell have you been? Go HERE!
And a comic book?
We repeat, where the hell… oh never mind. Yes. There have been several Clerks comics released by Oni Press. They can be purchased at the Stash right now (and signed by Kevin to boot).
Can Clerks be done as a play?
It could, but you'd need permission from Miramax, because they own the rights to the script. Put it this way: What Miramax and Kevin don't know about won't hurt anybody, if a non-profit group does it.
Did I see 'Clerks' stuff in the film 'Scream'?
There are two different 'Clerks' sightings in 'Scream'. The first is in the video store; they have a CLERKS poster. The other one is at the party. There is a copy of CLERKS on top of the VCR.
Is it true that in the initial cut of Clerks, Dante was shot and killed at the end?
Yes it is. In fact, that was Kevin’s initial idea to write the flick. After a few showings of the flick, John Pierson convinced Kevin to drop the scene. It made everyone a lot happier.
Who played Dante's murderer?
Kevin's cousin, John. To make up for being cut, he played Cohee Lundin in Chasing Amy.
What happened when Willam gets into the ambulance in clerks?
First, he gets in. Then, they cut away, during which time he puts his hat on the dead body's erection and takes out a sandwich (seen earlier as he taunted Silent Bob) and eats it (the sandwich, not the erection, sicko!). They cut back to him sitting and eating. The middle spot was filmed, but cut.
Where can I see some of these cut scenes?
The cut scenes are available on the DVD.
What happened to the movie I saw mention at the end of Dogma, "Clerks 2 : Hardly Clerkin'"?
That idea was morphed into J&SBSB.
