  • Uh-Oh!!!
Actress Shannen Doherty, who used to play a scheming woman on “Beverly Hills, 90210″, was placed on probation Friday for smashing a bottle against a man’s car. Doherty’s lawyer entered a no-contest plea on one misdemeanor count of vandalism in Beverly Hills Municipal Court. She was not required to be in court. Under California law, ano-contest plea is the equivalent of a guilty plea. In addition to a period of probation, Judge Elden Fox ordered Doherty to undergo anger management counseling and pay either a $2,000 fine or perform 80 hours of community service.

Kevin in TV Guide

  • We got this info from a post by Sean on theView Askew WWWBoard. It’s concerning MTV’s new show, Austin Stories. Here’s the scoop:
There’s some new MTV slacker comedy or something, and TV Guide traced it to its “ancestors” and it went something like this:

John Hughes comedies [Breakfast Club and one other, not sure which] –> Slacker

Slacker branched off to (a) the new MTV show, (b) The Real World, which branched to Road Rules, which went to the new MTV show…and (c) ‘distant cousin’, Kevin Smith slacker comedies, Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy.Great pictures, too. It’s got Randal and Dante stretched out, after the fight, Silent Bob reading ‘Spike, Mike’ with Jay reading ..well you know, and Holden and Alyssa sitting together at a table.

  • Well, the filming on Big Helium Dog is complete, and Vincent Pereira had a lot of nice things to say about the way things went. Check out his post to read all about his feelings about working on the set. Next up is a few months of editing followed by the festival circuit. We can’t wait to see the finished product either, so we’ll have all the latest right here on the site as we get the info.

Yep, We’re Alive…

  • Well, here we go again, another weekend of us being slow with the updates and making excuses. Of course, you regulars have probably come to expect this from us. Yesterday we went to see our favorite local band, Son Of Bubba, after work, so we were pretty intoxicated and festive. Today, well, we were just lazy. We slept late, then we were out playing par 3 golf. Excuses, excuses, right? We’re striving to get better at this on the weekends, really we are! But expect more of this in the future, we never seem to learn.

Also, we got our signed Clerks and Chasing Amy posters today. They’re HILARIOUS! Kevin, if you’re reading this, thanks so much for the quick turnaround and for signing them. They’re framed and up on the wall and they look great. All of you should buy some stuff from the Stash NOW. Not just every film director will send you signed and personalized stuff like that. Kevin rules.

“37″ Game…

  • We were stumbling around the Links Askew section of the View Askew Website, and located this little gem. It’s called the 37 Game, and all you gotta go is answer View Askew trivia questions to score points. You actually register, so the site can keep track of your ranking. A lot of the board regulars appear to be playing, and now we’re going to as well. Dunno how long this was around, so sorry if you missed the beginning of the game. We did, too.

Superman Lives Script ONLINE!

September 13th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Naturally, we were skeptical when we saw this, but sure enough, it’s real! Kevin Smith’s Superman Lives script has made it online! Grab it while you can, because we’re sure it’ll be gone in the next few days. We’re not storing the file locally, just because it’s illegal and we’re not sure how much the Warners will flip out. Of course, we CAN link to it though:

We suggest you save a copy right away. That way, at least you can share it with friends through e-mail after the online copy is history. Surf over to Drew’s Script Archive for more movie scripts than you could possibly read. It’s the best script site on the set, for sure.

Askew-Related Magazine Stuff…

September 13th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • It’s been a pretty busy week as far as View Askew and Kevin mentions in magazines!
  • Chris Rock, who will play Rufus in Dogma, is on the cover of Rolling Stone along with an article.
  • Chris is also the subject of a small Entertainment Weekly article. It says:
“And starting in February, Rock begins filming Miramax’s comedy Dogma, playing Rufus, the forgotten 13th apostle. ‘I think of Chris as the George Carlin of the now,’ says Dogma director Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy). ‘He’s a thought-provoking comedian.’”
  • Maxim Magazine - We don’t have the actual text or a link to the article, but this is what JJLfNJ had to say on the board:
Was reading the new Maxim mag(with Carmen Electra on the cover), and came across an article on women talking about sex. When the subject of experience came up,one of the women mentioned the line from Clerks, after Dante gets pissed about Veronica going down on men, “don’t suck anyones dick on the way to the car”.
  • There’s also a little mention in Spin Magazine. Liz wrote the details on the board:
There are three fairly cool pages on ComicCons in this month’s Spin. On page 118 (for the anal among us) they mention Kevin Smith as “director of the film Chasing Amy, set in a weird alternate universe in which all comics people are cool”

New Price Structure For Signed Swag…

September 11th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin announced a new pricing structure for personalized signed merchandise that you order from the Stash. Basically, stuff that was signed before will still be the same price, only you’ll get it much faster, just unpersonalized (Kevin’s signature, nothing else). Personalized stuff will still be available, it’ll just cost you a few bucks more and take a while longer to get in the mail, due to Kev’s busy schedule and all. You can read all about it right here.
