  • Practically all of today’s news comes from scoops we received via e-mail, so thanks so much to all of you who chipped in today. Not only do you make our jobs easier, but you also allow us to get the news out to the masses much faster than digging for it ourselves. Kudos to you all. Here we go…

Pix Posters Update…

August 26th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Our pal Garett sent us an update as to what’s going on with new items (and a certain item that’s now no longer available…hehehe) from Pix Poster Cellar, the place we made practically famous over the past few weeks. In fact, why should I paraphrase? He says it all…
1. They now have available the “Mallrats” press kit for $8. It includes three glossy stills. One of Jason Lee and Jeremy London making a weird look at the camera, one with Kevin and Stan Lee together, and finally, one of Mewes and Kev together (same one as the pic at the Mallrats Jay and Silent Bob site). Also included is a press release that discusses about the production and stars.

2. They have available the Kev’s complete first draft script of “The Six Million Dollar Man”.

3. They will never be selling the Superman Lives script. Apparently, Warner Bros. found out and sent a cease and desist letter to them.

4. Coming soon: Smith’s Overnight Delivery script.

There ya have it! The Mallrats kit sounds like a really nice deal, and we’ve reported on the Six Million Dollar Man script before. Also, I had heard elsewhere that the Overnight Delivery script was already available, so that’s some mixed info there. Let us know if anyone can confirm or deny that one. As for that other little script, there, well, I guess we’ll just hafta burn our copies now so Warner Bros. doesn’t come looking for us…Psssht. Congrats to those of you that also managed to snag one in time.

Chasing Amy Goes Porno?

August 25th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Asia Carrera

  • Well, I thought about not posting this, but (A) it’s pretty much all we have newswise today and (B) We’ve never had morals before, why should we start now? Anyway, I got this scoop from a post by Scout on View Askew WWWBoard #13. Apparently, “Chasing Amy” got the porno treatment recently, when Asia Carrera filmed the aptly named “Chasing Asia”. Here’s a newsbite from her website:
Thursday and Friday I’m going to be busy shooting a movie with one of the most long-standing and notorious adult film directors of our time! What’s his name again….? Oh yeah! It’s Bud Lee! I think I’ve shot with him once or twice before, but I could be mistaken. It should be fun, because the movie is a take-off of the movie “Chasing Amy”, and it’s called, “Chasing Asia”! Yay! (having your name in the title of a movie is always good for the ego!) Anyway, I’ll let you know how it goes….

By the way, that entry from her was on the 20th, and shooting wrapped on the 25th. Apparently, those flicks don’t take too long to shoot. Oh, and here’s Kev’s reaction to all this…

Now I know I’ve made it.

Honestly - I’ve been waiting for a porn to snatch (no pun intended) one of my titles for a long time.

Can’t wait to see it.

Ahhh, good ol’ Kev. Always the good sport. I wonder what they’d call the porn versions of Clerks and Mallrats? Send us your suggestions.

Where Were We?

August 24th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Once again, I guess we disappointed some of you with very few updates this weekend…Well, it’s a long story but to make it short, my sister’s car broke down and I spent most of the weekend finding a tow, driving her to garages, and ultimately a 4 hour trip to take her home since the car couldn’t be fixed today. A few words of advice: If your car’s going to break down, do your best to see that it happens on a weekday. But anyway, that’s all in the past now, and it’s UPDATE TIME! Here we go, folks…

Kevin’s Schedule…

August 24th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • I took a moment to ask Kev what he’s going to be up to until he starts filming Dogma in February. Here’s what he had to say:
First up, the ‘Dogma’ novel. Then, the super secret (God, that sounds gay) script. Then, there’s two non-continuity flicks I’m working on: a script for Uni (possibly), and an outline for a big project at Miramax. Between those, there’s the comic books.

And then in January, we head off to Memphis for rehearsals.

He sure knows how to keep you guessing, doesn’t he? We’ll keep trying to pry up some more information about the post-Dogma projects, but for now, I guess we have the comics (which should be outstanding) plus the Dogma novel (for those of you not afraid to ruin the flick!).

Dancing Jay Cursor Repackaged…

August 24th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • I’m not sure if this is happening to everyone, but I’ve received quite a few e-mails telling me that the Dancing Jay Cursor isn’t working for them. I decided to repackage the file in a ZIP format in the hopes that this will be more compatible with everyone’s browser. The file tested fine for me, so I assume it’s a compatiblity thing. Get the Dancing Jay Animated Cursor (.ZIP format) here! And, please, let me know how it works out.

Chasing Amy Comic Parody…

August 24th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Thanks to Nolan Reese for this scoop: In the latest issue of Slacker Comics from Slave Labor Graphics, Doug Slack did a strip called “Chasing Amy The Monkey” about a monkey loose at a comic convention. I was going to post the transcript, but it’s kinda long. If I get enough interest from folks who’d like to see it, I’ll post it. Nolan posted the transcipt on View Askew WWWBoard #12, so if you do a little digging you can find it there. If you can’t and want to see it, write me.

Kevin Smith Vs. The Studios!

August 22nd @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Kevin Smith is not at all happy with the state of comic-book adaptations. The director of Clerks and Chasing Amy is upset over Warner Bros.’ rejection of his script for Superman Lives (a.k.a. Superman Reborn), which stars Nicolas Cage. “I was tapped because I knew comics,” he tells the Philadelphia Inquirer, “and I could bridge the two audiences.” While Smith’s original script stayed true to the Superman comic series, the new one is filled with one-liners and jokes. “The studios don’t listen,” says a frustrated Smith, who cites Batman & Robin as a prime example of a big-budgeted movie brought down by a bad script. “It’s a slap in the face to comic-book fans,” he says of the flick. Smith himself has a very simple philosophy about what makes or breaks a comic-book movie. “It’s the guys in tights kicking ass,” he says.

Our thoughts exactly. But then again, you knew that already…

  • I haven’t received any mail from Ming or anyone inside, but for some reason ViewAskew.Com went down sometime around 1:00 EST today and remains down at this point (4:30 PM EST)…That’s all the information I have for you right now. I’ll let you know if I get any further insight on what the problems might be.
