- Jim Mahfood checks in again with more stuff on the Clerks animated series. Turns out that his involvement with the show may not be as close as we’d originally though, but he seems pleased with what’s been done so far. It’ll be neat to see what the style they’ve come up with is now, since we’d always pictured that Mahfood look to the whole show. We’re sure it’ll still be good, though. Here’s Jim:

Now let’s talk about the Clerks Animated series. The series WILL NOT be based on my drawing style. It was Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier’s (Kev’s kick-ass partner in crime and producer) original idea to have me come in and design the look of the show. However, when the series was brought to Disney my involvement was slowly but surely fazed out. Seems like the art directors and other people involved in production weren’t interested in working with me. The drawings I’ve seen look a little influenced by my work, but they actually have a look all their own. It’s pretty cartoony stuff but I think it looks pretty cool. I would’ve loved to have worked on the show but i guess Disney just didn’t want me involved after all. That’s cool ,though, cause now when it comes to me developing my own animated stuff one day it’ll all be me, ya know? I’ll design the look of the show, do the character and background designs, etc. etc. So life goes on and there’s obviously no hard feeloings between Kevin, Scott and I. These guys are the shit and they continue to hook me up with fat gigs, like the Talk magazine thing. Speaking of that, the first comic appears in the third issue (November). check it out if ya can.
