Some MAJOR news just broke today regarding Kevin’s next project, and it’s come totally out of the blue — In fact, the first time EVER that we’ve gotten word on both a title and stars on a Kevin Smith flick before he’s even hinted at all about either. But hey, that’s not even the biggest news. Ready for this? BRUCE FRIGGIN WILLIS is starring, alongside the hilarious Tracy Morgan, whose 30 Rock is one of the funniest shows on the tube today (and whose recent Howard Stern appearances are some of the best of the show’s satellite history so far).

So, let’s catch our collective breath here. Phew. The film, titled “A Couple of Dicks”, will be his first directorial effort from a script he didn’t write, and be done with a major studio – Warner Brothers. /Film has an excellent story on the announcement, which includes a short synopsis and a start date:

So what is A Couple of Dicks about? Written by Robb and Marc Cullen, and featured on the 2008 Black List (a Hollywood insider list of the best unproduced screenplays of the year), A Couple of Dicks tells the story of” two veteran LAPD detectives attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card.” Robin Williams was originally attached to star, but the project went into turn around, and apparently Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan are now attached to the project, which has a tentatively scheduled January 29th 2010 release date.

Of particular interest, the film’s writers, Robb and Marc Cullen, exec produced the enjoyable “Manchild” for Showtime in which Kevin starred.

But WOW – Kevin directing a BRUCE WILLIS FLICK! Oh man, we can’t wait.

We’re enjoying this sudden madness here as this Monday has suddenly come ALIVE!
