- We’ve been posting quite a few reports of Jason Mewes making public signing appearances at horror conventions across the country over the past few weeks - Mewes is starting to branch out into the genre, with small roles in the Project Greenlight horrorfest “Feast”, as well as David Arquette’s “The Tripper”. He’s also promoting a turn in the horror-comedy “Netherbeast Incorporated”.
We’re taking what we’d previously announced (in our right sidebar “Events” area) and adding in new dates for Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Orlando. Dates and links straight ahead:
Jay’s always of course happy to meet his View Askew fans, so if you’re in the area of any of these shows, be sure to stop by for your chance to meet this View Askew icon and get some swag signed.

An Evening with Kevin Smith @ Count Basie Theatere, Red Bank, NJ
- We’ve been to a lot of Kevin Smith appearances, but two that stick out for us were both at the historic Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey. At the first show we attended, Kevin set a record with his longest onstage appearance EVER. The second time around, cameras filmed a soon to be released DVD on Kevin’s 37th birthday, featuring all new tales, never told before.
So, when we heard that the Basie was being closed for renovations from July to October, we were first bummed, but then excited. While this would mean Kevin wouldn’t have a chance to hit this great spot over the summer, we were hopeful to see what would come after the place re-opened.
So, here’s the good news - Kevin will be appearing at the Count Basie LIVE, one night only — Friday, November 7th, at 7:00 PM. This being a Friday night, it’s going to be a BIG show, considering it kicks off the weekend. Also, it’s likely to sell out fast. For this one, it’s not a question of IF it will sell out, but WHEN, and how quickly.
TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE! BUY THEM NOW BEFORE THEY SELL OUT!
Prices range from $25 for the balcony all the way up to $75 for those nifty front of theater seats.
The show is scheduled for just one week after the current planned release date for “Zack And Miri Make a Porno”, so it’s likely that Kevin will have a lot to say about the film — And will hopefully be celebrating from a big week of box office grosses!
We’re not going to miss this one and neither should you. Buy your tickets TODAY and be among the first to see the beatifully restored interior of the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. You don’t wanna miss a Smith in Red Bank show! See ya there. And please, buy today. You don’t want these tix to go extinct on ya.

Bergen PAC - We’ve Got A New Date!
- Alrighty folks, as promised, we’ve now received the official word from the inside on the new date for Kevin’s Q&A at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. The new date is February 21, 2009. We do believe that the Bergen PAC will refund anyone who can no longer make the show. Here’s the statement that came in today:
“We regret that we have to move the Bergen PAC date again, but those of you that know Kevin, realize this has never happened before. Due to the editing and release schedule of Z&M, we are going to have to move the show to Feb 21, 2009. For those of you with tickets to the show, please call the box office at 201-227-1030 for more info on how to exchange your tickets for the show. Again we regret the inconvenience.”
Hopefully everyone understands here, the flicks are the bread and butter, so we’re sure that the reschedule has to do with getting the best possible flick out to us this Fall, on time and in fantastic shape. We’ll keep you posted on any further details and other chances to see Kevin live. Looks like there will be quite a few across the country in the second half of 2008 and early 2009.
