  • Slashdot, a very popular internet website that takes in over a million unique hits a day, ran a positive story/review on J&SBSB yesterday, saying “It will still probably be the funniest movie you’ve seen all summer”. Check out the full story HERE. Could get some more butts in the seats next weekend, considering there’s only a couple new releases on the 31st.
  • For those of you that liked that parental type summary of J&SBSB yesterday, check this one out! Ya gotta wonder how long that baby took to compile. Hopefully someone got paid some overtime. Also worth checking out while you’re there: Chasing Amy and Dogma’s writeups. Sadly, they don’t tackle Clerks or Mallrats.
  • A new AICN article reports that J&SBSB is not being sceened in Freeport, Bahamas, it’s been declined by their film board! Check it out:
Freeport, Bahamas, August 24th. Having anticipated ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ for several months, I was happy that it was premiered here at the same time as in the U.S., something that usually only happens with bigger, star-driven releases. (In fact, due to our limited number of screens, you won’t see most movies until several months later, when it’s released for rental/sale/satellite broadcast.) So, armed with my wife and friends, we headed down for the late show only to be informed that they would not be showing the film due to the fact that our Bahamas Film Board (I am unsure of the exact naming), our ratings board had decreed that the film should not be allowed to be shown in the Bahamas. Apparently, it came down to one member, who is a nun, who objected to what I can only assume from the trailers is the scene where Jay goes down on a Nun played by Carrie Fisher. In case anybody’s scratching their heads, we are officially a christian country. We’re the ones who won’t let gay cruises dock at our ports. There is absolutely no separation of church and state, so I’m not particularly surprised. HOWEVER… This is censorship, this is a violation of my human rights, etc…And It is a major bummer. I’ve been a big fan since Clerks came out, and was really looking forward to being front and centre, popcorn in hand, to see Kevin, Jason et al finishing the saga in style. Hell, I had already planned to go see it again tommorow night. Now I’ll have to wait till next year and bag a DVD, unless someone has a spare reel. And a projector. Anyway, I’m going to get more info on Monday and I will fight this as hard as I can, or at least piss a lot of prudish people. Either way, I’m up for it, and I’ll let you guys know how it’s going.
  • Some First Look reviews of this week’s upcoming GREEN ARROW #7 are now up at The Fourth Rail. Check them out HERE and HERE.

  • “Because I got High” by Afroman is due for release in the UK either the 1st or the 8th of October, but no firm date has been released yet. The song is also beginning to get radio play there as well.
  • A promotional videotape featuring the Afroman & Stroke 9 videos, as well as the J&SBSB trailer, has been spotted at record stores. Ask the employees at your local shop, maybe they’ll hook ya up!
  • Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is already number 39 (at presstime) on the IMDB’s list of top 50 comedies of all time. The film currently carries an 8.1/10 after 34 days of submitted reviews. Check out the full list HERE.
  • Some newspaper print ads for J&SBSB featured slightly different poster art, with Ali Larter and Eliza Dushku replacing Will Ferrell and Jason Lee. No idea if this was an alternate one sheet, or only done for print ads. If anyone has a scan, send it in.
  • Some may have noticed that the video of Jay’s Rap 2001 on the J&SBSB soundtrack (datavideosjaychant.mov) can’t be played outside of the interface presented to you by the software on the CD. Those who want the option of viewing the media they’ve lawfully purchased in the way they prefer can play it directly in QuickTime by adding this key to the Media Keys section of the QuickTime prefs:
Category: SorensonVideo
Key: nickelbag

If you know how to modify these settings, go for it…If not, best not play around too much. We’re not responsible for what you might mess up in the process.

  • Appearance update: Kevin will address the Maui Writer’s conference on Sunday evening, however it costs $595 for the weekend (and thats only for Hawaii residents, out of staters pay even more). So, if you’ve got a lot in the bank, or recently won powerball or something like that, you might hafta wait for Kev’s college appearances in the Fall.
  • The Canadian band Bran Van 3000 has a new single out called “Love Cliche” which references Chasing Amy & tells the story of an “Amy” type situation.
  • Finally today, it looks like the influence of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is already spreading…Check out this web comic for a reference.
