- Box Office Guru predicts a 20 million dollar winning weekend for Jay & Bob:
Kevin Smith fans have been eagerly awaiting Jay and Silent Bob all summer and a solid opening on a crowded weekend will result. The director’s last feature, Dogma, opened in November 1999 with $8.7M from 1,269 theaters for a healthy $6,832 average. A similarly strong opening average for Jay and Silent Bob seems likely due to the cult audience’s demand for this picture. Poor reviews will mean nothing at the box office this weekend. Moviegoers not familiar with the dynamic duo are not likely to line up for tickets as pure fans will show up during the opening frame and then disappear soon after. Racing into 2,765 theaters, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back could open with about $20M.
- Last minute radio appearance: Kevin will call into Star 94 (94.1 FM) tomorrow morning for anyone living in the Atlanta area. The show runs from 6 to 10 AM, and guests USUALLY call in between 8 and 9. We’ll try and get info or a transcription or audio for ya.
- An update to the J&SBSB soundtrack listing: It’s currently at #7 on the Hollywood Reporter’s soundtrack sales listing, and climbing!
- Kevin is apparently a character or card or something in this strange Pokemon-like game.
- The Dogma SE DVD tied for third place in the Best Performance in A Commentary category at the DVD awards, part of the International Recording Media Associations and Medialine’s DVD Entertainment 2001 Conference. The complete list of winners can be found HERE.
- Mallrats alum Jeremy London has landed a role in the $51 million “Gods and Generalsâ€, the prequel to “Gettysburg†scheduled to start filming soon.
- From today’s Reuter’s “Notable Quotes†area:
– director-actor KEVIN SMITH, who pokes fun at his profession and Hollywood generally in his upcoming comedy ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.’
